The Agalmic Studios Manifesto
1. The Core Vision
We are establishing Agalmic Studios, a player-driven ecosystem of games designed to function as a permanent public utility. Our mission is built on two inseparable goals:
-
Agency: To create an evolving collection of digital worlds where the end users dictate the roadmap and development priorities.
-
Impact: To generate a Social Dividend by using all excess revenue to fund Universal Basic Services (UBS).
2. The Engine: AI-Driven Rapid Evolution
Traditional software development is inherently limited by high costs and slow cycles. We build for a near-future where AI agents enable the rapid prototyping, deployment, and maintenance of software.
-
The Transition: In the near term, human architects and coders are essential to guide the AI, ensure system integrity, and refine the core experience. We embrace this hybrid phase as a necessary bridge.
-
The Destination: Long term, the day-to-day operations—from patching bugs to generating entire new game genres—are handled primarily by AI. This collapse in development costs allows us to pivot the value generated by these games away from corporate overhead and toward the public good.
3. The Guardianship: Our Three-Entity Structure
To ensure this mission remains immutable and protected from external pressure or shifts in leadership, we maintain a Three-Entity Guardianship model.
| Pillar | Entity | Role |
|---|---|---|
| I | The Operating Company (The Studio) | A Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) that manages the AI agents and technical infrastructure. It is legally mandated to prioritize the player-driven roadmap and the social mission. |
| II | The Social Trust (The Owner) | The Operating Company is 100% owned by a Social Trust. There are no private shareholders. The Trust is the "Economic Heart," receiving all excess revenue for distribution to Universal Basic Services. |
| III | The Guardian Foundation (The Veto) | A separate non-profit "Veto Foundation" holds a "Golden Share." Its sole purpose is to legally block any attempt to change the mission, sell the assets, or divert the Social Dividend. |
4. The Financial Waterfall
Our order of operations is transparent and fixed:
-
Direct Costs: Funding AI compute, server hosting, and essential staff.
-
Growth & Maintenance: A fixed percentage of revenue is reinvested to prototype new games and upgrade the technology.
-
The UBS Dividend: 100% of all remaining surplus is sent to the Social Trust.
5. Player Agency
In this ecosystem, the end users are the directors. Through a straightforward voting process, the community determines:
- Which new game genres the AI should prototype next.
- Which specific features or balance changes are prioritized.
- Which Universal Basic Services the Social Trust should fund first.
6. The Philosophy of Sustainability: Subscription over Sales
We utilize a subscription-based model for Agalmic Studios rather than one-time game purchases to align developer incentives with long-term player satisfaction and ensure a predictable flow of resources for the Social Trust.
7. Our Name: The Economics of the Gift
The word Agalmic refers to the production and allocation of non-scarce goods. As AI reduces the marginal cost of creating digital worlds toward zero, software becomes an "agalmic" good. We believe this value should be used as a gift to the real world, fueling the Universal Basic Services that sustain us all.
This manifesto represents the founding vision of Agalmic Studios. For the legal framework that protects this vision, see the Preliminary Constitutional Bylaws.
